Planning Stat: a tool to write permission tables
Amendments to the regulations have changed the way permits and other forms are written. Here is a tool to help you meet the new requirements.
On 1 December 2024, amendments to the Planning and Environment Regulations 2015 commenced. The amendments introduced new forms (4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12) and changed the way responsible authorities are required to document decisions to grant or refuse permissions.
The amended forms now include tables into which decision makers must specify the clause of the relevant permit requirement and the matter for which a permit is required (Permission Table).
The logic of the changes is explained in the recently re-written Writing Planning Permits (May 2023) guide (the Guide) issued by the DTP. The Guide, including the recently introduced form 4 changes, was prepared by Equipe with Helen Gibson AM, Peter Allen PSM and DTP (Planning Systems).
As Victorian planners will know, the VPP and local planning schemes can require many permissions (arguably too many in most cases) for any given proposal. This tool allows you to quickly search for and collate relevant permit triggers and then paste them into a report or form.
Equipe has developed a simple tool to help you quickly and consistently write Permission Tables for your reports and forms. See below.
Equipe advises industry and council clients on a range of planning and environmental law matters. If you have any questions on the new requirements or the Guide, please get in touch.
